The Fifth International Quilt Show – Dubai was a grand success!

Quilt Workshops: Special rates are being discussed with Dhow Palace Hotel, the venue for the workshops and Gala Dinner and Savoy Park Hotel Apartments and Four Points Sheraton which are around the venue of workshop and Gala dinner. The details will be posted on the website on 15th November 2011.

Quilt Exhibition: The Quilt Exhibition was held in the Festival Centre at Dubai Festival City from 10th to 18th February.103 participants had sent their quilts for the exhibition. We received 127 quilts for the exhibition of which 71 quilts participated in the competition based on the theme “Reflection”. The participants were from UAE, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, Kazakhstan and USA. Around 250 quilters came in from other countries for this show. We had 3,000 visitors to the exhibition. A sum of AED 11,000 was raised for the Charity Quilt which was donated to Dubai Cares. Congratulations to Anne Armour for winning Best of Show prize for her Art Quilt, “Dance of Devotion”. Her prize was a Bernina 380 sewing machine.

Ms. Sabine Scheiner Area Manager, New Markets, Bernina International AG from Switzerland was the Chief Guest. Mr. Roger Buhler, Sales Manager, New Markets, Bernina International AG handed over the Best of Show prize – a Bernina 380 sewing machine to Anne Armour for her entry “Dance of Devotion”
For entertainment we had a Turkey dancer perform Tanoura Dance for an audience of 100 dinners.
Exhibition had 3000 visitors and the Gala Dinner had an attendance of 100

The next International Quilt Show will be in February 2014, with a mini show in February 2013 between the GCC countries which will include some workshops. Information will be posted on this website as it becomes available.
